safety guidelines

Below are some straightforward tips that should be recalled when carrying your baby in a sling or baby carrier, to make sure your baby is carried safely remember to…

Keep it tight
In view at all times
Space between chin and chest
Supported back

Keep it tight: This will stop the risk for baby to slump down, as this may impede their breathing. By keeping it tight this also recreates the held and weightless feeling which baby would have experienced in the womb.

In view at all times: Your baby should be positioned so that you can look down and see their face at any given time to make sure they are ok, happy and breathing.

Space between chin and chest: This is to allow your baby to breathe easily. You should be able to place at least one finger space between your baby’s chin and chest.

Supported back: If you press gently on your babies back they should not uncurl or move towards you. Preferably your baby should be in an upright position with their tummy towards you and their bottom at deepest part of carrier/sling. Their back should be supported in a natural position, knees higher than bottom and their pelvis in a tilted position. (other positions can be adopted but safety following guidelines).

ALWAYS FOLLOW SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR THE WELLBEING AND COMFORT OF BOTH YOU AND BABY
